Welcome to the Newsstand
Why a chess platform is opening a magazine stand — and what you'll find on it.
Most chess reading in India lives in two places: fast news feeds, and books. Between them sits the magazine — long enough to teach, short enough to finish with your evening tea. That middle shelf is what we are opening today.
What the Newsstand is
8by8verse is the stand, not the only magazine on it. Our own English monthly sits beside Shatranj Samrat, the Hindi chess magazine that has been in print since 1989 and now publishes its digital editions here. More titles will join as partners come aboard.
What makes these editions different
Every diagram in every edition is a live board. When an article discusses a position, you can play it out against the engine from that exact position — reading and training stop being separate activities.
One edition per magazine is free to read once you verify your number or email. The rest come with a yearly subscription that covers every title on the stand.
Write to us. The letters page of Issue 2 is already waiting.
