8by8verse is a brand and trading name operated by CatalyseR Eduventures (I) Private Limited (referred to in this document as "we", "us", "the Company"). When you sign up, subscribe, register for a tournament, or otherwise transact on 8by8verse.com or any of its sub-domains, you are entering into an agreement with CatalyseR Eduventures (I) Private Limited.

Our registered office, GSTIN, CIN and support contact details are listed at the bottom of every legal page on this site.

By creating an account, paying for a subscription, registering for a tournament or otherwise using our services you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

If you do not accept any part of these Terms, please do not use the site.

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must consent to the account and accept these Terms on your behalf.
• Subscriptions purchased for a minor are owned by the consenting parent or guardian.
• You agree to give accurate information at registration and to keep it up to date.

We offer a free plan (Player ID), one consumer subscription (NCR Pro), and business plans for coaches, organisers and state federations. Prices, included features and applicable taxes are shown on our /pricing page at the time of purchase. All prices are quoted in Indian Rupees (INR / ₹). International customers pay the same ₹ amount by card; the card-issuing bank converts it to the local currency.

• India payments: UPI, credit card, debit card and netbanking via PayU. Displayed prices are inclusive of GST at the rate notified by the Government of India; the tax portion is itemised on your invoice.
• International payments: credit and debit cards via PayU. Foreign-card transactions may attract a Foreign Currency Conversion fee charged by the card-issuing bank, which is outside our control.
• All subscriptions are annual, non-auto-renewing by default. We do not auto-charge your card; you decide whether to renew when the period ends.

Some 8by8verse features let third-party organisers (clubs, academies, federations) host tournaments and collect entry fees through our platform. In every such transaction:

• The contract for tournament participation is between you and the organiser.
• CatalyseR Eduventures (I) Private Limited acts as the payments facilitator only.
• Refund disputes for tournament entries are resolved with the organiser per their published refund policy, which is shown on the tournament page before you pay.

The NCR (National Chess Rating) calculations, performance reports, puzzle ratings and analysis are provided on an "as-is" basis for educational and recreational purposes. While we make every effort to calculate them accurately, NCR is not a FIDE rating, is not endorsed by FIDE or any national federation, and may differ from official ratings published by FIDE, AICF or any other body.

You agree not to misrepresent an NCR rating as a FIDE rating in any official correspondence, ranking submission or claim.

You agree that you will not:

• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable Indian or international law.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, other accounts, or our infrastructure.
• Use bots, engines or external assistance during online games hosted on the platform. Detected cheating leads to immediate account suspension without refund.
• Impersonate another player, manipulate game results, fabricate scoresheets or fraudulently claim someone else's rating.
• Re-publish, scrape or commercially redistribute our content (magazine articles, puzzles, books, ratings databases) without written permission.

All content on 8by8verse — including the 8by8verse and BSPM trademarks, the NCR rating algorithm, magazine articles, books, puzzles, software code, designs and graphics — is owned by CatalyseR Eduventures (I) Private Limited or its licensors and is protected by Indian and international copyright and trademark law.

You retain ownership of content you upload (e.g. scoresheets, profile photo) but grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display it as part of providing the service.

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where possible. We may add, modify or discontinue features at any time; where a change materially reduces a paid plan's value, we will offer a pro-rated refund of the unused portion.

To the extent permitted by law, CatalyseR Eduventures (I) Private Limited is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of your use of the platform. Our total aggregate liability in connection with the service will not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at the registered office of CatalyseR Eduventures (I) Private Limited.
